The countdown to Christmas has begun!
This time of year is a wonderful opportunity to embrace the holiday spirit and spend some quality time with your kids. Just by doing a few extra Christmas activities, you can transform this festive holiday into something to be cherished year in and year out.
Read on below for our favourite ways you can make Christmas extra special for your whole family.
Decorate!
Get in the festive spirit by decorating your home with gorgeous lights, a Christmas tree and various ornaments.
Let your little ones be creative and decorate the tree all by themselves, or hang decorations around the house in any way they see fit. Just make sure you supervise them especially around small or delicate decorations and Christmas lights.
You can even make an event out of decorating your house by bringing the whole family together to sing Christmas carols, watch movies, eat tasty Christmas themed treats and of course decorate!
Get crafty:
There are some great Christmas craft activities that kids will love to do, including making Christmas cards, wrapping paper with stamps and paint, and various ornaments that you can hang on the tree or around your house.

Read Christmas books together:
If you haven’t already started reading Christmas books to your kids, now is a great time to begin. This activity is an ideal way to spend some one-on-one time with your children and if they are old enough, they can even practice their reading themselves.
You can begin by reading Christmas books from your own collection, borrowing from a local library and even swapping with other parents, friends or family. Make sure you save your children’s favourite Christmas books for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day – they will love waiting in anticipation and it will make those days extra special.
Bake:
There’s nothing quite like baking delicious Christmas goodies to get the kids excited for Santa’s arrival. It’s a great activity that will keep little hands busy and encourage them to get creative. Christmas foods you can bake include shortbread and cookies and if you’re game… even a gingerbread house!
